As a photographer, one of the most important things I need before I go out on a shoot is to have the proper gear for what I am about to photograph. Let it be a fashion editorial, a commercial or advertising shoot, a senior portrait session , a wedding (although I don’t do these very often) or just simply a day out with my family, having the right gear is crucial. Having the appropriate gear will help me get the right angles, capture the expressions that I’m looking for and get the quality and overall aesthetic that I want to have in each and everyone of my photographs.
Because I photograph people (mostly fashion and portraits) I have a specific set of cameras and lenses that I use to obtain my desired results. Note that, the gear that I mention in the video may not necessary work for you. That’s to say that, whenever you are considering purchasing any photography gear, it’s mostly important to do the research and educate yourself with the product’s details, features and compatibility before making any purchases. I’ve always been the type of person that will study a product before buying it. This will ensure me that I am getting what I want and need instead of making a purchase just to “see how it goes”. Photography gear can get pricey very fast so it’s better to invest then to spend.
With that in mind, I’ve recently created a video with what’s in my bag? In this video, I go over all the pieces that are inside my camera bag and tell you why I love them and why you should consider them if you are about to delve into the amazing, fun and rewarding world of portrait and fashion photography.
