Goodbye my sweet Lola, our "little" Diva.

Bottom photo was taken when we first got her. Large photo was taken around 2008/2009 in our backyard. Apparently, she had a thing for lying on a bed of flowers. :)

I remember when we got her, it was July of 2005. It was the Summer right after my first trip to Spain. I was so into Spanish culture and had so many memories of this trip that I wanted another keepsake from it. Once I went to get her,  I remember coming back home and going over names with my sister. I went from Britney to Fleur, to Coco Chanel and finally I decided on Lola Cibeles. I wanted something either Spanish or French. "Lola" was from the Spanish singer, dancer and actress Lola Flores and "Cibeles" was from Plaza Las Cibeles in Madrid. According to my friend, this is the Plaza where everyone goes to when the Real Madrid team wins the Cup. The name also comes from Asian mythology in which Cibeles were the Muses of Sports.

I´ve had dogs all my life. I consider them a part of my family. I hurts to see them suffer (as she was recently) but it rejoices you when you see them wag their tail, jump up and down or just do something really weird and funny that will ultimately cheer up even the Scroogest of Scrooges. I still can´t believe she´s gone. It hurts me that I haven´t seen her since 2013 (because she was still in PR) and will never see her again. I will certainly miss her....

It really is amazing how much you can grow to love a living being so much, even if all they can do is wag their tail, whine and bark. But, as a dog lover, that is just only the surface of things. Dogs do way more than that. They know when you are happy and celebrate with you, and they also know when you are sad, and in turn they try to cheer you up.

I´m happy to say that at least she no longer suffers and she is up there somewhere in doggy heaven looking over us or probably just hanging out with my grandma...

RIP Lolita....
