In this intensive 2 day workshop, you will learn different techniques to successfully produce and creatively direct a portrait shoot. You will learn about lighting on location using natural light and off camera flash (OCF), all while learning how to direct your models and have beautiful images to add to your portfolio. In addition, we will be learning various techniques for portrait retouching. In addition, you will also be learning about the business of photography.
This workshop is designed for anyone who is interested in learning about the portrait photography business. The idea is to teach you the basis of how to photograph portraits by interacting and connecting with your clients, directing them and guiding them through the shoot. Then, retouch those images and sale them to your clients and make profit.

Who can sign up for the workshop?
This workshop is designed for the anyone who is interested in learning how to incorporate various elements from fashion photography into their portrait, wedding, boudoir and senior photography. The idea is for you to learn about posing, styling, lighting and directing. These simple yet powerful tools will help you bring the best in each of your photo shoots.
What level of experience do I need to participate in the workshop?
The workshop is open to photographers who have a basic knowledge in photography.
What equipment do I need to bring?
You must bring a D-SLR camera, one or more lenses with focal length between 50mm and 200mm. Off-camera flash (modifiers if you have them) and as many memory cards and batteries as you possibly can!
Where will the workshop take place?
Location sessions will be done around the Raleigh-Durham area.
Will there be any kind of food during the workshop?
Yes, we will provide lunch and snacks to participants. It is very important to let us know of any special diet or possible allergies so we can make arrangements.
How much is the deposit for the workshop?
A deposit of 50% of the total cost to reserve your space is needed. It must be paid in full two weeks before the day of the workshop. Early bird pricing requires payment in full. Click here to reserve your spot!
What happens if the workshop is canceled?
If we have to cancel a workshop for lack of quorum or bad weather, we will notify you as soon as possible and you will be refunded in full.
What if I want to cancel my participation, is the deposit refundable?
The deposit is non-refundable. However, it can be used as credit toward another workshop, personalized mentoring session and/or photo shoot. You may also consider the option to sell your spot to a third party independently. If this is the case, please let us know so we can contact the person and provide him/her with the workshop details.
How many participants are accepted at the workshop?
This is a semi-private, one-on-one workshop with only a maximum of 6 students. This facilitates individual attention to each of the workshop participants and greater amount of time to photograph models.

-About Yesenia Bocanegra… Yesenia Bocanegra is a lifestyle portrait and fashion photographer, videographer and educator. Her studies in Cinematography and Graphic Design have served as a tool to incorporate various disciplines within her fashion and portrait photography. Her work has been published in magazines in the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe. Some of her photographs have been showcased in private galleries in San Francisco, CA, Durham,NC and San Juan, PR. She has a BA in Communications from the University of Puerto Rico, a Masters in Graphic Arts from Atlantic University College in Guaynabo, PR and an MFA from Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Yesenia lives and plays in the Raleigh-Durham, Chapel Hill Area in North Carolina and travels often.
